For the Love of Drew
I don't know if I've missed this news, but apparently Drew has written a song that's going to be featured on a T.V. show (was featured already? IDK, I've never seen this show).|
Ben is Rasmus’s character in Lead Balloon. Jack Dee plays world-weary comic Rick Spleen, whose home is cluttered up by his layabout student daughter Sam (Antonia Campbell-Hughes) and her boyfriend Ben, who is always asking Rick for cash.
But in Thursday’s episode, Rick gets excited at the prospect of the youngsters finding paid employment. At first he is annoyed that the band they have formed – imaginatively called Ben & Sam – make so much noise when they practise, but he changes his tune when they are offered a record contract and fame through a TV ad.
Life is imitating art. In Lead Balloon, Ben & Sam are discovered through YouTube, and in real life the video to their catchy song, Tragic, has been getting hundreds of hits on the website even before it’s heard on TV. At this rate, Rasmus and Antonia could become pop stars too, especially as their musical talent is being nurtured in another TV show.
“Tragic is written and produced by Drew McConnell from Pete Doherty’s band Babyshambles. We know him as he used to date Antonia. I think she’s outstanding on the track, even though she claims she can’t sing.
“I’d love to be able to sing like that. I’m not completely tone deaf, I can hold a note, but nothing like that.”
And this is the song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMtRGxvSE1g. Sorry I can't embed it.
